As the patriarch of the family, dad deserves some special celebrating and Father’s Day is just the day to give him his due. Go Outside
Whether your dad wants to head to his favorite fishing hole, take a day hike or go all out and pitch a tent and go camping for the weekend, there are lots of ways to get out of the house and celebrate. Set up some backyard games and create your own dad Olympics without leaving the house.

For the sports-minded dads, tickets to see his favorite team play are always appreciated. Or treat him to a round of golf. Bring out his inner child and take him to an amusement park, go-cart track, or paintball course—any grown-up will appreciate the chance to let go and just have fun.

Prep for your gathering by arranging outdoor furniture throughout your backyard space. Have places for everyone to gather on the patio or deck, but also hone in on welcoming areas under trees, beneath large umbrellas, or in a screened gazebo. You don’t have to cluster everyone all in one spot. In fact, give dad a place to grab that afternoon nap, like a hammock under a tree or a nice reclining lounge chair in the shade. Outdoor side tables add a nice touch, too.
Get Crafty (with Beverages!)
Not the arts and crafts kind—think more like the beer kind. Craft beer has become a well-loved “hobby” where dad can really become an avid fan. Look for local beer festivals, tastings, and pubs dedicated to all things craft beer. You might add a beer-making kit to his gift list!
See Some Music
When was the last time dad saw a live band? Whether it’s a local band in a nearby club, or if one his favorite national touring acts happen to be coming through his town, this provides the opportunity to spend some one-on-one time while enjoying some good tunes too.

Pampering and relaxation are not reserved just for the moms out there. Dad will appreciate some downtime, especially when it includes a massage, a steam room and the solitude that can be found at a spa.
