French Country Décor & Decorating Ideas for the Bedroom
Embrace The Beauty Of French Country Decor In Your Bedroom
The charm of French country decor lies in its romantic use of florals and rustic elegance. Use it to transform any bedroom into a retreat that feels like you could be sleeping inside a charming cottage in the French countryside. Voila!
A graceful floral country quilt in a color palette of salmon, red and lilac looks enchanting. Matching shams bring it all together beautifully.
Nothing feels more romantic than beautiful decorative bed pillows scattered across your bed. Try staying within your color palette, and choosing romantic textures and designs that include lace, buttons and ribbon.
Add ambient lighting on your bedside table with a bedroom table lamp that features a decorative shade with a subtle pattern or cut-out design to add a unique glow to your room.
Continue the romantic theme with a pair of heart-shaped accent mirrors with rustic brown edges. They add a lovely decorative accent while bringing out that wonderful reflective quality that only a mirror can add.
A few personal touches add warmth and personality to your space. Choose collectible figurines that express your heartfelt feelings and complement the décor style.
Add a romantic touch to your room’s windows with semi-sheer tie-up shades. The ties are a perfect complement to the French country décor style.
Add a few decorative accents that feature organic texture to complement the room’s lovely florals, like burlap-covered wall art with an inspirational message, or a basketweave rug to finish your French country look.

My bedroom is painted red can I pull off the french country look without repainting?

Kerri, thank you for sharing your decorating dilemma.
Your red walls like the red poppies in the south of France provide a vibrant jolt of color in the room. Vibrant colors, subdued hues, ruffles, distress woodwork, mixed patterns, pretty fringes and lacy accents are the hallmarks of French country interior design. You can balance the bold color of your walls with decorative accessories and bed covers in softer colors to create a cozy, welcoming bedroom filled with old-world elegance.
You may want to reach out to a trusted girlfriend or a local interior decorator to give you an extra set of eyes to help you pull together the overall look of your bedroom.
Kerri, updating home décor is transformative. We’d love to see pictures of your French country bedroom once you pull it all together. It’s sure to be beautiful.

I love the Palermo quilt I just purchased. What window treatments would you suggest? I also have french doors leading to a small balcony in the room.

Carole, thank you for commenting. Hope you are enjoying your new quilt. When selecting window treatments, you first need to decide if you want the curtains to stand out or blend with the walls. If you want curtains to give your décor a bit of pop, select a non-dominant subtle color from the quilt for the curtains. Unlined curtains, semi-sheer panels, will also infuse the room in color and light. If you want the window treatments to blend, pick a window treatment that is one shade darker than the color of your walls.

The beauty of this bedroom is it’s simplicity and yet it manages to be elegant, restful. The colors are soft and ease the eyes, but still maintaining the warmth to see you through the cooler nights of autumn.
